Just a test ….. !
Castle Carr Road yesterday afternoon.
Found two dead Brown Hares, around 250m apart, obviously looking like road-kills.
One looked like a juvenile two/thirds grown and the other a full grown adult, the latter had started to be eaten by Carrion Crows.
Unfortunate to lose such lovely animals.
I guess if the traffic didn’t move so fast then the creatures may have stood a chance!
Sad news Dave, unfortunately there seems to be more & more traffic using Cold Edge & most seem to think its a competition to go as fast as they can.
I’ve never been lucky enough to see a Mountain Hare. On the one occasion I made a special trip to the moors above Dovestones Reservoir to try and find one I only found a dead one on the road. Sad, but as in the case of your Brown Hares, at least they become food for the next (bird/mammal/insect) along the foodchain.
