Just been catching up with recordings on my trail camera in the garden. Getting foxes every night plus occasional badgers. I was hoping to add a video but the file is too big. Took this frame from the video which clearly shows who’s in charge even though it is known that Foxes & Badgers do mingle & quite often share a sett or den. The fox quickly cowered away to a safe distance when the badger turned up.
Nice to have two of our largest mammals calling in at your garden at the same time Mick. I once saw outside someones house a fox stand patiently waiting for the badger to eat its fill on the patio. I took a walk in the Crags with one of my daughters and two grandsons today. (Plus Annie.) Grandson no.1 laughed when I told him about the special “animal” that lives up there – the Northern Hairy Wood Ant. (I think he was impressed by the size of their nests – they are huge this year – )
but they were well impressed by the Roe Doe that walked along through the trees and crossed the track in front of us.
